Most tasting menus take you through one kitchen. Passport to Dining takes you through the North Shore.
Passport to Dining in Kings Beach
On Thursday, November 5, the North Tahoe Event Center fills with roughly 25 tasting stations from area restaurants, caterers, breweries and wineries. It's an easy way to revisit a few favorites and add some new names to your dinner list.
Jenni and Jesse of Dead Winter Carpenters handle the live music, and there's a raffle and auction. Those proceeds benefit the Tahoe Waterman Foundation, a Carnelian Bay nonprofit that uses paddle sports to support people facing life-changing injuries and health challenges.
Where: North Tahoe Event Center, 8318 North Lake Boulevard, Kings Beach, CA
When: Thursday, November 5, 2026, 6 to 9 PM
Cost: $75 in advance, $85 at the door if tickets remain. Ages 21+ with valid ID. Check Passport to Dining for tickets and current details.
Keep the North Shore Weekend Going
If you're making a few days of it, North Tahoe's art scene and a later-November tasting night make good companion plans.
Placer Artists Tour Comes to North Tahoe
From November 6 to 8, North Tahoe galleries join the Placer Artists Tour for the first time. The tour is free and self-guided, with participating spaces in Kings Beach, Tahoe City and Olympic Valley, so you can meet artists, see new work and buy directly from the people who made it.
Where: Participating galleries in Kings Beach, Tahoe City and Olympic Valley
When: November 6 to 8, 2026. Tour hours are 10 AM to 5 PM.
Cost: Free. Check the Placer Artists Tour for the artist directory and map.
An Elegant Affair in Tahoe City
Later in the month, An Elegant Affair turns the Boatworks Mall into a silver-and-gold holiday kickoff with bites, wine tasting and music. It benefits the North Tahoe High School Boosters Club, so the night out also backs local student athletes.
Where: Boatworks Mall, 760 North Lake Boulevard, Tahoe City, CA
When: Friday, November 20, 2026, 6 to 9 PM
Cost: $65 per person or $120 for two. Check An Elegant Affair for tickets and current details.
A Local Note
For Passport to Dining, TART has posted event shuttle details, with free parking at the Truckee Railyard Mobility Hub, Northstar and the Tahoe City Transit Center. Plan the ride home before you go, because TART notes its evening service does not continue all the way to Truckee.
These are the kinds of nights that give Kings Beach and Tahoe City their character once the summer crowds thin out, and a good reminder to thank the local kitchens that keep this side of the lake fed all year. If you're thinking about spending more time on the North Shore, the neighborhoods and the everyday pace deserve as much attention as the lake views.
